14 of Beamur14's Favorite Game Series
Here are some of my favorite game series that I've played over the years that I figured deserve a shoutout. These are series of games where I have played multiple entries in the series. I'll have a separate post for shouting out some individual titles that are some of my favorites and probably another post with some more of my favorite series!
BIT.TRIP (aka. Runner)
- Challenging rhythm gameplay with fantastic music! The Runner games in the BIT.TRIP series are my personal favorites.
Borderlands
- Spent plenty of hours in Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Borderlands TPS and Borderlands 3. These were the first FPS RPG games that I really got into!
Dungeon Defenders
- Even though the games are a grind fest, there's still something uniquely satisfying about the way Dungeon Defenders plays! It is a well executed combination of 3rd person hack and slash mixed with tower defense.
Hydro Thunder
- One of my all time favorite racing games. Loved the concept of racing crazy speed boats instead of cars! I logged tons of hours playing this game both in the arcade and on the SEGA Dreamcast as well as the PC version (Hydro Thunder Hurricane).
Peggle
- Relaxing gameplay with great music! What more is there to say! This was back in the glory days of Pop Cap before EA bought them out.
Portal
- I still remember the first time I ever played Portal. It caused me to fall in love with first person puzzle games!
Serious Sam
- Classic arcade style run and gun FPS with crazy secrets and over the top chaos! What's not to love?
Sonic the Hedgehog
- I have been playing Sonic since Sonic 2 for the SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive. Even though SEGA and Sonic have brought fans many ups and downs, you can almost always guarantee the soundtracks will be bangers even if the game sucks!
Space Channel 5
- Look out Ulala!!!... In all seriousness though, the soundtrack to these games are absolute bangers and I'm a sucker for some rhythm game action!
Streets of Rage
- Side scrolling beat-em-up action with a fantastic soundtrack!
Super Monkey Ball
- Fell in love with the Super Monkey Ball series after logging tons of hours on Super Monkey Ball 2 for the Nintendo GameCube!
Super Smash Bros
- I haven't played these games as much lately but they will forever hold a place in my heart. The Smash Bros games are a staple in the fighting game genre / scene with their unique take on multiplayer brawling madness!
TrackMania
- One of the best arcade style racing games I've ever played. I've logged countless hours in TrackMania United Forever and the Trackmania² games (Canyon, Lagoon, Stadium, Valley).
Worms
- For me, Worms World Party for the Dreamcast is what really got me hooked. The wacky weapons, crazy maneuvering, general silliness and strategy of the game really made for a unique combo. The "Super Sheep" and I were best friends. I never got the chance to play online against other people but I would play bot games and with my siblings all the time.
